SVG Emerald Valley Pineapple Farming
Last year we decided to plant a new crop, and we chose pineapples.
So far it's been successful.
We are planting three types of pineapple; Smooth Cayenne, Tia-Non No.4 and Antigua Black.
Development and Maturation. Pineapple has three distinct phases of growth:
(1).The vegetative phase of leaf growth.
(2).The generative phase of fruit growth.
(3).Another vegetative phase of shoot growth.
We've used plastic mulching sheets to assist in four ways;
(1).Retain soil moisture and temperature.
(2).Prevent growth of weeds.
(3).Protects the foundation fertilizer from being washed away by rain.
(4).Reduces labor cost and enhances healthy growth of pineapple fruit.
